Thank you for visiting the Pima County 4-H Shooting Sports Education website. We are dedicated to teaching firearm and non-firearm (air gun, archery) safety and responsibility to everyone involved while giving youth the experience of fun and excitement that shooting sports can offer.
The goal of the 4-H Shooting Sports project is to promote youth development by instilling safe habits, self-discipline, teamwork, and knowledge in a safe, family-oriented, and encouraging environment. Shooting disciplines that are taught to members, ages 9 to 18, include: archery, air rifle and pistol, smallbore (.22) rifle and pistol, shotgun, muzzleloading, and hunting.
Members participate through meetings run by 4-H community clubs. The shooting sports meetings are run by trained adult volunteer leaders who have undergone nationally-recognized certification in their respective shooting disciplines. All of the disciplines are taught using materials prepared by the National 4-H Shooting Sports Foundation.
4-H shooters can compete at county, state, and national 4-H shooting events, as well as many clinics and fun-shoots throughout the year. Healthy competition provides an incentive to excel and opportunities for shooters to test their skills.
